Kookmin Bank (hereafter KB) Financial Group sponsored by KODAF held the KB Hope Camp's completion project at the Yeouido Ilum Center on Jan. 10th 2020.
“KB Hope Camp” is a customized career search program for students with disabilities considering the type of disability and specificity. One hundred and one middle and high school students with disabilities paired with university mentors to experience the careers of the studentss with disabilities. Personalized career mentoring program. Today's completion ceremony is a celebration of the completion of the mentor who has been a dream guide for men and women with disabilities who have grown their dreams through orientation, summer camps, field work experiences, and dream presentations from last May.
Through the camp, Chaewon Moon (sophomore of Gilem Middle School) challenged the Korean Baseball Series 3rd round, while Chaewoom Kim (sophomore of Daegu Gwangmyeong High School) has met pianist with visually impaired, Yeji Lee. Hoyeol Lee (senior of Cheonan Ohsung High School), who will be a freshman in college, said, “I have dreamed of being an athlete, but I discovered a new strength through out the camp and discovered dream of becoming a sports equipment designer.”
The camp is Korea's first personalized career mentoring program for students with disabilities to try not to give up their dreams on the grounds of disability. Since 2013, students have been planning and implementing career action plans for each school age, including 'knowing me' for middle school students, 'finding careers' for high school students, and 'preparing for careers' for college students. For seven years, 815 mentees for students with disabilities participated in their dreams. 96 career specialists, including 749 college students, mentor-mentors, university professors and field experts, helped to explore the career of students with disabilities.
